Nothing is Permanent

Merlot spills on my white, lace Easter dress.
Red lips stain my grandmother’s antique tea set.
Green tomatoes ripen too quickly to fry.
Drops of blood land on my copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Rose petals falling off their bushes too early in the spring.
